Pure butternut seedlings sourced from a grafted orchard of genetically tested pure butternuts from southern Indiana and Ohio and northern Kentucky, established by the Hoosier National Forest in 2012. Designed to provide seed for reforestation, this pure J. cinerea orchard containing 37 genotypes has begun to produce more seedlings than the Hoosier can plant. In part to keep a steady supply of seedlings for them, and to offer those interested in keeping pure butternut in their forests, we are making these available to the public in 2026. As new pure HTIRC conservation orchards mature, we will be adding those additional sources to this mix.
