WHAT'S IN A NAME?
Though basically the same product in terms of function, tree shelters and tree protectors have developed into products
that are actually quite different from one another. However, these differences are more a by-product of their unique history
than of functions they perform. It could just as easily (and accurately) be said that tree shelters protect
trees and that tree protectors shelter trees.
The original Tree Pro product was called a tree protector because it differed from other products that were
already on the market called tree shelters. To avoid confusing customers and others already accustomed to using the term "shelter,"
this original Tree Pro product was called a protector.*
Consequently, when Miracle Tube was introduced, we called it a tree shelter because it was more like other tree
shelters on the market than it was like the Tree Pro protector.

Tree Pro
Tree Pro tree protectors are flat polyethylene sheets that are formed into tubes when
placed around the trees. They basically have three advantages over solid tubes.
1. Because they are shipped and stored flat, they take up less space.
2. Because they are easier to open, they allow for quicker access to the trees.
3. Because they are easily removed without destroying them in the process, they may be used more than once.

Miracle Tube
Miracle Tube tree shelters are polyethylene tubes, also with certain highly desirable light
transmission properties. Because they are tubes, they take up more space than Tree Pro protectors, even though
we nest up to five of them together in a single package. Their advantage is that they are easier to install than protectors.

Some companies refer to their product as a "tube." Since "tube" is part of the brand name, Miracle Tube, we
try to avoid using that term to identify the product category. Nonetheless, it inevitably appears in the text from time
to time.
On this website, we use the terms "protector" and "shelter" and sometimes even "tube" interchangeably, unless we
are referring specifically to either Tree Pro protectors or Miracle Tube shelters.
Since Tree Pro (the company) supplies both Tree Pro (the protector) and Miracle Tube (the
shelter), the choice is yours. If you're still confused, don't worry. Just let us know what your situation is and we'll
take care of the rest.
*The use of the term, "Tree Guard," has declined over the past few years. It's now used almost exclusively to refer to
trunk guards.
