Many growers lose trees unnecessarily.
Not realizing the exorbitant added cost of replanting, they fail to take adequate protective measures
when the trees are planted. More often, they do take protective measures but unwittingly choose products for that purpose
that actually hurt their trees. This kind of tree loss is preventable.
To illustrate: Before human physiology was understood, physicians employed practices that actually
hurt and sometimes killed their patients (e.g., blood-letting). Likewise, there are tree growers today, despite their best
intentions, who are hurting and killing their trees by using tree protectors that are dangerous to trees.
